Richard Miller, along with his wife, Karlene Normandin, and friend, Mike Burke, created Third Stone Christmas Tree Farm in 1979. In the 34 years of owning TSF, they planted over 16,000 trees. In 1988, Karlene and Rich built their timber framed home with white pine they harvested from the woodlot at the farm. In 2013, they sold the farm to Tim, Atlanta, and Willow.
Richard has dedicated 28 years to developing a permaculture homestead, planting over 130 trees from apple to walnut, 120 shrubs, from aronia berry to pea shrub, and 25 vines. They hope to plant at least that many trees, shrubs and vines at Willow Brook Farm.
If you walk outdoors with Richard, you will soon realize that he is an exceptionally well read, truly passionate, and very experienced farmer and land steward. He will mentor the Fellows in responsible forestry, permaculture, and long range planning to equip them to take on the future opportunities and challenges for their farm and business.
