Maybe spring is coming?

Maybe spring is coming?

The weather outside on the farm may be variable, with warm temperatures feeling like spring than cold windy days reminding us we still have 2 weeks of winter, but inside our dining room/seeding nursery it’s consistently beautiful and balmy. The shelves are starting to fill up already as the sowing for this season has begun. The onions are the biggest wave of flats so far…500 seeds per tray, germinating by the generous heat of the woodstove. Spring greens, early tomatoes, peppers, and parsley, slowly we move through the excel spread sheet seeding plan that we labored over this winter.

We’ve also started to put together our hoophouse. We take advantage of each warm day by pounding rebar into the barely thawed soil, in preparation for the metal hoops that we have bent ourselves. A super cost efficient model for a hoophouse that our cucumbers and tomatoes are going to love this season!

Enjoy winter’s last hoorah- spring will be here before we know it!
