Our thoughts have been largely immersed in the fall season that is quickly approaching! We have been choosing which crops are more cold tolerant and planning how much of each crop we will need on a weekly basis. It so happens that the most popular crops for us are the most cold hardy as well! Mesclun Mix and spinach, which were so excited about! We can’t wait to experiment growing inside our hoophouse that our tomato’s are currently growing in. We’ve heard a lot of success with growing cold hardy crops inside of a hoop house during the cold months, but this is the first time we’ve really tried it out for ourselves on this scale. On a different note, the foot traffic at our farmers markets have been getting a little bit more consistent with each passing week. We’ve been really grateful about that, and as we continue getting closer to the fall season it should pick up the pace a lot more dramatically. Considering the corn maze will be officially open in the coming weeks, pumpkins will line the front field at scammans farm and hay rides will be available for families and friends! It’s an exciting time of year that we are really looking forward too.
