Week of Equinox

This week on friday will officially begin the fall season. Just last week we have been planting in blocks of crop for mid-late fall harvest of spinach, lettuce, baby kale, radishes, arugula and more. The greenhouse has slowed down in production with the tomatoes aging quickly. This week’s tasks include removing all the plants in the greenhouse and planting greens in all three of the hundred foot beds. These well protected beds will play a huge roll getting our lettuce mix to last until early winter hopefully. We’ve recently seen heavier animal foot traffic around the gardens with tracks of all sorts, we are preparing to cover all of our garden beds with hoops and agricultural fabric to protect them from upcoming frosts and hungry predators.
