Sharing an opportunity: Kittery Land Trust Seeks Garden Coordinator - Apply Now! Kittery Land TrustGarden Coordinator Position The Garden Coordinator is responsible for nearly all aspects of set-up and management of Kittery Land Trust’s (KLT) Giving Garden, a produce garden intended to reduce food insecurity, increase awareness of the intersection between health and the environment, and engage the surrounding KLT community. During the summer of 2020, the Giving Garden produced nearly 2,000 lbs of produce, all of which was donated to local food pantries and school lunch programs. The Garden Coordinator, while reporting to KLT's Executive Director, manages the garden from start to finish, thereby ensuring that the Garden's mission is a success and helping KLT give back to the community. The Giving Garden is located at Nooney Farm, a land trust owned property located in Kittery. Responsibilities:- design and set up of garden, including soliciting and coordinating seedling & seed donations, planting, staking & trellising, and marking paths and beds - recruiting, training, and managing volunteers who weed, water, harvest, and deliver the garden's produce, including creating a volunteer schedule - working with community partners to set up donation logistics; maintaining such relationships and communication throughout the season - creating a harvest system to ensure that each organization is receiving appropriate types & quantities of produce on a consistent schedule - implementing logistics related to garden maintenance and harvesting, including signs and guides for volunteers as well as equipment such as hoses and baskets - keeping track of garden-related data, such as volunteer hours and harvest quantities - solving other problems and issues as they come up - managing the garden’s email account Requirements:- strong organizational skills and work ethic - flexible schedule, allowing for frequent visits to the garden, volunteer trainings, seedling & equipment pickup, and filling in for volunteers when they are absent - strong people and communications skills - interest in and passion for gardening, farming, conservation, nutrition, environmental justice, and/or other related issues - experience in farming or agriculture helpful This is a paid, five-month position running from mid/late April through mid/late September.
